Packing House District
Redlands, California

Design Achievement
The Redlands Packing House District aims to rejuvenate business and vitality in the historic core of the city of Redlands. DLR Group has developed a comprehensive signage design for the district, establishing a unique brand and cohesive retail atmosphere for the citrus packing house-inspired retail and restaurant center. Taking inspiration from the city's rich history in citrus processing, the signage at the entrances of the commercial center warmly invites individuals to explore the vibrant shopping and dining district, offering a genuine destination for both locals and visitors. By incorporating reclaimed wood and industrial materials, the signage effectively reinforces the district's theme and brand identity.

Scope Summary
DLR Group was responsible for the wayfinding and signage design of the 88,800 square foot commercial center, which comprises two anchor tenants and five multi-tenant buildings along the perimeter. Situated on a 10-acre plot near downtown Redlands, the pedestrian-friendly district required a comprehensive signage system. The design incorporated prominent features such as a 60-foot pylon sign and a 30-foot monument sign adorned with illuminated orange banding, laser-cut backlit letters, and an orange halo. Vehicle entry and pedestrian signs utilized the district's branded typeface, while laser-cut interior illuminated tenant logos were strategically placed throughout the signage. Additionally, a tenant directory was implemented to facilitate easy wayfinding for visitors. DLR Group provided experiential graphic design services for the project.
